  • Youth Sports Camp - Varsity

    Varsity Camp Grades 3-7 (Completed in June 2024) At Varsity Sports camp campers will have the opportunity to make friends and memories bonding over the love of sports. Continuing our new format from last year, each week campers will get the opportunity to choose from 4 different sports to play that are being offered. Core sports like Baseball, Basketball, Football, or Soccer will always be an option, with each week offering a sport that will rotate, such as Volleyball, Tennis, Gym Games, Stick Sports, etc. Campers will swim twice a week, and take an all day weekly field trip to their favorite spots around town. In addition, varsity campers will get an extra field trip on Wednesday afternoons where they will get the choice to pick from two different afternoon options being offered. Olympics week will return this summer, for week 4 of camp! This is a FUN new structured camp for your child to participate in if they love sports, and hanging with their friends, like we do! No Camp on June 19th, July 4th, & July 5th.     Orange Sports Skills Camps Orange Youth Sports is committed to the skill development of all athletes in the community that strive to be the best they can be. Youth Sports Skills camps will return this summer to provide additional skill opportunity for youth athletes guided by professional coaches. While all camps are expected to be fun and engaging, expect your athlete to emerge as a better player and teammate from these camps. Camps will be run by professional coaches who often have ties to our Orange Athletics department or have experience coaching youth players in a developmental setting. Camps are listed in order of start date. **Skills camps are not eligible for the early bird discount this summer** Lions Boys Basketball Camp Grades K-8 (school year ending June 2024). Orange Youth Sports Basketball Camp will return this summer, offering a full week of basketball skills, drills, and competitions, to get you ready for the upcoming season. This camp is for campers currently in grades K-8 (school year ending June 2024). This camp will include basketball and character development skills while teaching fun ways to enjoy the game. Teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, and discipline will also be stressed to the campers. The staff will create a positive, safe and fun environment for the players by featuring fun, innovative drills that can lead them to basketball excellence in their futures. Players will be divided into equal skill-level groups. All equipment will be provided by the staff. Please wear appropriate basketball shoes. We are proud to partner once again this season with the up and coming Orange Lions Girls Basketball program, returning our Girls Basketball Camp to our summer camp skills camps. Basketball players will receive pointed instruction to prepare them to be competitive athletes on and off of the court. It will focus on the fun and fundamentals of basketball, and emphasize training methods of varsity athletes. All equipment will be provided by the staff. Please wear appropriate basketball shoes.   • Little Lions Baseball / Softball Clinic

    Our Baseball programs are growing and rapidly expanding. Our first base for many baseball players and athletes here in the community is our Parent / Child Little Lions Clinic. We quickly swing in to league and gameplay as Kindergarteners with t-ball and coach pitch leagues. 3rd – 6th graders can participate in recreation-level baseball programs that see us join our neighboring communities along the way. Our travel baseball program continues to grow and expand and competes with the best teams in the area and has produced varsity athletes in our community. All programs, giving players at all ages and all skill levels, an opportunity to join us for some baseball each spring. More information for your program will be available upon registration. Little Lions Baseball Clinic - This is a parent and child program that allows parents to help their baseball player learn the fundamentals of Baseball. The 6-week clinic will focus on the core fundamentals of baseball, throwing, catching, running, and trying to swing a bat for the first time on a tee. Bring a youth glove to the first practice.

    Little Racquets Youth Tennis Lessons - Grades K -6 Beginners (Grades K-2) 24SYS710 Intermediate (Grades 2-5) 24SYS715 Advanced (Grades 3-6) 24SYS720 Beginners will receive instruction on proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys and serves along with the rules and etiquette that make tennis an exciting game. Intermediate & advanced participants will receive instruction that will build on the foundations they learned in earlier tennis lessons. A higher emphasis on rules and etiquette that make tennis an exciting game. Players should bring a racket and water. Location: PPLC Tennis Courts We will meet at your scheduled time at the PPLC tennis courts. Beginner Lesson: 12pm - 12:50pm Intermediate Lessons: 1pm - 1:50pm Advanced Lessons: 2pm - 2:50pm A few important notes: ALL PLAYERS MUST CHECK IN FOR ATTENDANCE BEFORE PLAY. We will have a member from the Orange Youth Sports office or a member of Little Racquets available at the beginning of each practice to take attendance. IF you will not be attending a session, please email or text Rona at (Ronab@littleracquets.com) (614-332-4890) to let her know so she can plan accordingly. Please be sure to bring lots of water, and make sure your child is wearing sneakers No racquets are required as the staff will have many different sizes available for the kids. Have Fun! .. Get better at Tennis!! :) Also, if the weather forecast is bad and we experience bad weather, and we do have to cancel practices, we will email everyone the day of your practice to let you know our plans.     Orange Community Education & Recreation has a variety of unpaid volunteer opportunities available for teens and adults of all ages. Whether volunteering to assist with summer camp, senior center activities or special events like Trunk or Treat, you'll have the opportunity to share your talents and gain valuable experience. Available year-round, various days/times. Lions Club Volunteer- Love kids? Volunteer your time after school to play games, assist with homework, play outside and do fun projects with Kindergarten - 5th graders. Available afternoons M - F during the school year. Book Buddies Volunteer- For Orange High School students only. Work with our youngest preschool crew to help them learn letter sounds/names, reading comprehension, rhyming and more! Available afternoons during the school year. Broadway Buddies Volunteer- Share your love of the theatre with our "stars" in our award winning adaptive theatre program. Available year-round, various days/times. Coach- Lead our young athletes in your favorite sport/s to develop skills, confidence, and teamwork throughout a season. Available afternoons and weekends year-round. Recreation Specialist Assistant- Assist our talented afterschool/weekend instructors in implementing a variety of fun sports, theatre, art, academic, or recreational activities. Available afternoons and weekends during the school year. OCER Commission Member- For those interested in serving as an appointed community member that advocates, promotes and gives feedback to OCER. Available as positions become vacant- meetings are once a month in the evening, year-round. Orange Early Childhood Parent Volunteer- For families with children enrolled in Orange Early Childhood. Everything from chaperoning field trips to planning events or assisting in the classroom. Available during the school year. Scorekeeper/Referee- This valuable volunteer helps us keep games for youth sports running smoothly. Available year-round, various days/times. Safety Town Volunteer- Help incoming Kindergarteners learn the basics of safety during an exciting one week program offered each summer. Event Volunteer- Love to mix and mingle in the community? Have a knack for planning? Join us to carry out some amazing events for our community. Available year-round, various days/times. Parent Production Team- The backbone of our Stagecrafters production- help our crew with anything from hair and make-up to donations and cast parties. Available twice a year during the weeks of Theatre Production. Summer Camp Volunteer- Help create fantastic memories for a new generation! Assist our staff with various camp activities, including crafts, swimming, sports, theatre, art and more. Available weekdays during the summer. Ski Club Volunteer- Love to ski and work with kids? Ski Club Volunteers assist us with keeping everyone safe and having fun! Available evenings/weekends during ski season.
