  • Basketry Basics & Beyond Workshop

    Basketry is the oldest craft, preceding even pottery. In this one-day workshop, we will be focusing on splint work by building a Wall Pocket basket. The basket will be approximately 9" x 7" x 9" and includes an Ash notched handle! Make a beautiful classic rattan basket, or get creative with colored rattan available for added interest and design. As this is a full-day workshop, please bring a packed lunch to enjoy on our sunny outdoor patio! All supplies are included.
  • En Plein Air Pastel Drawing Workshop

    During this one day workshop, students will learn the basics of using pastels and create landscape and nature drawings inspired by the Orange Art Center’s grounds. Students will learn the basics of using hard pastels and en plein air drawing. En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air”, and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in full view. All skill levels are welcome. No prior experience required. Shared supplies and equipment provided; students are required to bring their own sketchbook, pastels and blending stumps ( links provided at registration).
  • Garden Windspinners Workshop

    Add a magical touch to your garden this spring with a beautiful, handmade wind spinner! In this one-day workshop, participants will learn about and be guided through the process of creating beaded wind spinners. Be unique! Choose from silver or copper-colored wire, and glass beads. In addition, you will learn how to repurpose charms and beads from old jewelry! Each participant will leave the workshop with a mesmerizing addition to your favorite outdoor space. Some supplies are included; an additional supply list is provided at the time of registration.
  • Mother's Day Cardmaking Workshop

    Show love this Mother’s Day with a personalized, handmade card for the special women in your life! In this one-day workshop, you will be guided through the process of cardmaking using mixed media techniques. All supplies are provided.
  • Natural Dye - Botanical Printing on Fabric

    Learn how to natural dye with food scraps and flowers. Each student will receive a blank 100% cotton bandana and a variety of natural dye materials. Students are highly encouraged to bring their own additional materials to experiment with (i.e. an old flower bouquet, leaves, onion skins, tea bags, etc.); this is your chance to get creative! Students will learn the basics of natural dyeing and how to make colors stable for washing. This is a 90-minute make-and-take workshop and no experience is necessary! Ages 16+ are welcome to attend. Please wear clothes you do not mind getting a bit messy.
