  • Orange Pride Wrestling Club

    OCER Recreation Sports Leagues and Teams OCER Youth Sports provides all elementary-aged students with opportunities to participate in athletics in their community. “Recreation Sports” follows a more traditional style of youth sports, where participants play on a team, often coached by a volunteer parent, and play in leagues geared towards fair and equitable participation. When participating in these programs, participants should expect an outcome of; organized team play led by volunteer coaches, in an environment that allows everyone to participate. There will be moderate competitive expectations. Orange Pride Wrestling Club - Grades K - 6 The mission of the Pride Wrestling Club is to provide individualized wrestling instruction to any athlete grades K-6th. We will provide a fun and competitive environment designed to acquaint our young wrestlers to the sport of wrestling while teaching other skills necessary to become a champion in all aspects of life. Participants will be grouped by weight, and given instruction based on size and skill level. Anyone can participate. Practices are optional, but the more your wrestler does the better your wrestler will get.

Mayfield Boys Basketball League Grades 3 - 6 OCER Recreation Basketball teams will participate in the Mayfield Basketball Association league as we have for many years. Teams will be made of basketball players from Orange and will play games against teams from Mayfield, and West Geagua. Games are played here in Orange and in Mayfield. There will be moderate competitive expectations. Eastside Girls Basketball League Grades 3 - 6 Girls Basketball is back and ready to join the Eastside Girls Basketball League once again this year. We are excited to compete in games against our neighboring communities and their girl's basketball programs. Teams will play an 8-game schedule, concluding with a 1 game end-of-season playoff.     Orange Youth Competitive & Travel Sports Teams OCER is committed to providing youth athletes in the community with competitive and developmental sports experiences. Competing as a community, against other youth sports programs across Northeast Ohio. We aim to connect youth teams’ and emerging athletes with Orange High School Athletics through camps, clinics, and special events with Varsity coaches. Aiming to establish vertical integration of programs from varsity to youth athletics. Travel sports often do not require extensive travel, but may include extended weekend participation. When participating in these programs, participants should expect an outcome of; competitive team play, and organized instruction from volunteer coaches and professional coaches. Orange Travel Basketball - Grades 3 - 6 The travel basketball program is for boys & girls who are at an advanced skills stage of basketball. Players are required to try out and to be selected for the team. Upon making the team, teams will practice a minimum of twice per week, including weekend games and tournaments. Teams play in the Midwest Travel Basketball League located in Kenston and play against other top teams in our area in a 10-game season. The registration fee covers new custom uniforms, post-season, tournaments, league registration and additional coaching support. Practices begin the first full week of October and the season is expected to last through February. If you are interested in Travel Basketball, you MUST register for tryouts for your child’s grade Scholarship opportunities are available.

    Orange Community Education & Recreation has a variety of unpaid volunteer opportunities available for teens and adults of all ages. Whether volunteering to assist with summer camp, senior center activities or special events like Trunk or Treat, you'll have the opportunity to share your talents and gain valuable experience. Here is a short list of some of the amazing benefits you’ll receive! Gain confidence. See below to learn a little more about each of our volunteer opportunities: Adaptive Recreation Volunteer- This rewarding experience allows you to work one on one with children or adults with special needs. Available year-round, various days/times. Lions Club Volunteer- Love kids? Volunteer your time after school to play games, assist with homework, play outside and do fun projects with Kindergarten - 5th graders. Available afternoons M - F during the school year. Book Buddies Volunteer- For Orange High School students only. Work with our youngest preschool crew to help them learn letter sounds/names, reading comprehension, rhyming and more! Available afternoons during the school year. Broadway Buddies Volunteer- Share your love of the theatre with our "stars" in our award winning adaptive theatre program. Available year-round, various days/times. Coach- Lead our young athletes in your favorite sport/s to develop skills, confidence, and teamwork throughout a season. Available afternoons and weekends year-round. Recreation Specialist Assistant- Assist our talented afterschool/weekend instructors in implementing a variety of fun sports, theatre, art, academic, or recreational activities. Available afternoons and weekends during the school year. OCER Commission Member- For those interested in serving as an appointed community member that advocates, promotes and gives feedback to OCER. Available as positions become vacant- meetings are once a month in the evening, year-round. Orange Early Childhood Parent Volunteer- For families with children enrolled in Orange Early Childhood. Everything from chaperoning field trips to planning events or assisting in the classroom. Available during the school year. Orange Senior Center Volunteer- A variety of opportunities to assist the Senior Center team and engage in the community. Available year-round, please reach out to the Senior Center directly if interested. Scorekeeper/Referee- This valuable volunteer helps us keep games for youth sports running smoothly. Available year-round, various days/times. Safety Town Volunteer- Help incoming Kindergarteners learn the basics of safety during an exciting one week program offered each summer. Event Volunteer- Love to mix and mingle in the community? Have a knack for planning? Join us to carry out some amazing events for our community. Available year-round, various days/times. Parent Production Team- The backbone of our Stagecrafters production- help our crew with anything from hair and make-up to donations and cast parties. Available twice a year during the weeks of Theatre Production. Summer Camp Volunteer- Help create fantastic memories for a new generation! Assist our staff with various camp activities, including crafts, swimming, sports, theatre, art and more. Available weekdays during the summer. Ski Club Volunteer- Love to ski and work with kids? Ski Club Volunteers assist us with keeping everyone safe and having fun! Available evenings/weekends during ski season.

The focus will be on getting better with basketball at a young age, learning the game, and having fun. Kindergarten participants will spend 6 weeks leaning and developing skills, while Grades 1-2 will utilize weeks 3-6 to incorporate team practices and game concepts in preparation for their league starting in January. Players will be placed on teams based on ability level. Teams will be coached by Run The Show staff. Each participant will receive an Orange/RTS jersey. The league's focus is developing an understanding of how a basketball game is played, the rules of the game, and learning basketball concepts and actions. We will promote competitiveness, sportsmanship, and development.
