Are you interested in dabbling in fiction writing? Think you might have a short story or a novel
in you but don’t know where to start? If you answered yes, this introductory fiction writing class
is for you. Designed specifically for those with little to no fiction writing experience who want to
learn how to begin a fiction writing project, this class helps you find a pathway toward your
fiction writing goals. You will learn the basic building blocks of story: character, plot and
setting, as well as the different forms of fiction writing and some of the genres you might like to
explore. You will also learn about researching avenues for marketing your work: online versus
print magazines, self-publishing versus publishing with a traditional press.
Whether you’ve never written a word of fiction, or haven’t written since high school or college,
you will complete the course with the skills you need to get started on a new work of fiction (or
to revive an old one that’s been sitting in your bottom drawer) as well as an outline for moving
forward with your project, including goals for ultimately marketing.
