  • International Girls in Science Day with Challenge Island (GIRLS Gr. 1-4)

    The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is an annual observance adopted by the United Nations General Assembly to promote the full and equal access and participation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields! Join OCER and Challenge Island to promote this awesome day for girls! During this groovy simple machines-focused workshop girls time travel back to the 1970‘s – a simpler time filled with pet rocks and treehouses. They also learn about all six kinds of simple machines. These concepts swirl together as teams design pet rock treehouses powered by simple machines! Students take home their adopted pet rocks as a souvenir of their 70’s adventure.
  • National Plant a Flower Day (Gr. K-5)

    Discover your own green thumb just in time for all of the flowers to bloom! Each gardener will get to design their own flower pot with paint, markers, glitter, and other decorations! After designing a flower pot, we’ll plant some seeds and learn about the best way to take care of their plants! Make sure to place your flower in your favorite sunny spot at home to watch it grow! Pots will dry overnight, be delivered to MHS classrooms and sent home on Thursday, March 13th.
